Orpheus/Orfeo

I was commissioned to create promotional photos for Orpeus/Orfeo, a production for Scottish International Storytelling Festival 2023.

By collaborating with the producer and artists of the show, I directed the performers to create a series of images inspired by the story of Orpheus/Orfeo, which combines Greek and Scottish Myth to explore themes of loss and grief.

Working together with the artists, our aim was to convey a journey through the underworld and illustrate Hades' cautionary message to Orpheus; 'Don't look back'.

RSPB
Glasgow to Globe

As a Volunteer for the RSPB, I supported the Marketing and Communications team to create content for the Glasgow to Globe green space.
The project coincided with the UN Climate Conference, Cop26, in which an area of the Glasgow Botanical Gardens was redesigned to showcase actions people could take on a local and national level to combat climate change.

Working to an agreed brief, I created content that reflected brand values such as ‘community engagement’, as the RSPB seek to provide innovative, fun and sociable ways for people to participate and take action.

Lorna Sinclair

Lorna Sinclair is a Scottish artist currently working in Glasgow. Her practice is inspired by colour, wide open windows, botanical gardens, seascapes and scenes from everyday life.

Lorna asked me to capture a mixture of portraiture and still life from her studio, which could be used as promotional content for an online gallery and publication.

Truthfal

Whist working at Falmouth University I created content for Truthfal, an online news platform for journalism students and staff to publish local news and review cultural events across Cornwall.

I developed and led self-briefed projects by; identifying opportunities for stories and carrying out research to produce photography, video and written articles that publicised theatre productions, exhibitions and participatory arts in the local area.

I also supported students to craft their own stories which involved teaching digital production skills using the Adobe Creative Suite, as well as social media and content management systems to publish news.  During production days, I would instruct students how to; edit video, design magazine layouts and record and mix podcasts.

Village Storytelling Festival

The Village Storytelling Centre is Scotland’s leading organisation in community and contemporary storytelling.

As Photographer for the Village Storytelling Festival 2022,
I captured performances, workshops and community activities.  The Centre used this content to publicise future events and to enhance evaluative methods for recording outcomes and achievements.

The Roughcut 50 Second Film Challenge

In partnership with Penryn Primary Academy, we created and submitted a film to the Roughcut 50 Second Film Challenge. Working together with teachers and staff, I organised and filmed over 30 interviews with pupils from the academy's drama group.

The children share their ideas, inventions and dreams of what the world could be like 50 years from now.
